Until a few weeks ago all I knew about Lush was that they sell some pretty epic bath bombs. Then I got to spend a few hours in the heavenly smelling Lush temple (aka their store 🙂 ) and found out just how amazing Lush really is. Before I talk about the products I first want to say a few words about their Values.
First of all 100% of Lush’s products are vegetarian which means that they only use vegetarian ingredients and vegan packaging. 83% of the products are vegan and these products are all labeled.
Lush also values fair trade, fair work conditions, a positive effect for the community of the producers and a fair price/performance ratio.
One thing which is absolutely amazing is that all Lush products are handmade. The bath bombs and bubble baths are all moulded by hand and the soaps are cast and cut by hand. With the aid of stickers you can see who of the Lush workers made the products you just bought.
The heart of Lush’s philosophy is freshness. This means that the ingredients are as fresh as possible and that Lush tries to reduce the amount of synthetic ingredients as much as possible. This also includes that the ingredients should come from ecofriendly and sustainable resources.
For decades Lush has been inventing solid products which don’t need any conservatives or a lot of packaging. 38% of the products are sold naked which means that they are sold without packaging. They simply wrap them in paper. The other products are sold in bottles or tubs which are made out of 100% recycled plastic.
Last but definitely not least Lush doesn’t test any products or materials on animals. Also the suppliers are not allowed to test any products on animals whether it is for Lush or any other company. Lush is completely free of animal testing.
The first products I want to show you are their world-famous bath bombs. Whether simple and relaxing, sparkling petals or extravagant colours and scents, Lush has a bath bomb for every mood. In the image above you can see a pile of The Experimenter bath bombs.
I got the Intergalactic bath bomb to try out which is a colourful mix of pink, yellow, white and vivid blue laced with gold stardust. As with all bath bombs Intergalactic smells heavenly and I loved the sparkly blue water. It is also full of great oils which make your skin feel super smooth afterwards. The fragrance of Intergalactic can be described as a mix of fresh peppermint and grapefruit oil which are both invigorating. The vetiver and cedar wood are the deep and relaxing counterpart which bring you back down to earth from your interstellar voyage.
Here are some photos I took. Aren’t the colours just breathtakingly beautiful?
Next up another one of Lush’s most famous lines is the bubble bath collection. In the photo below you can see the Creamy Candy bubble bath which contains organic cocoa butter and vanilla. Creamy Candy smells like delicious candy floss and vanilla.
In the shampoo department I tried the Curly Wurly Coconut Shampoo. First of all I need to say that it’s very important to slowly blend a little bit of the shampoo with some water in the palm of your hand until it froths up before applying. If you don’t don’t do that, the shampoo will not work properly and you’ll just end up being disappointed. Curly Wurly is a great shampoo for curly hair. It helps get rid of frizz and makes your curls bouncy. As always the shampoo also smells amazing due to the vanilla and coconut. My hair felt super smooth and shiny after just one use. Here are some of the ingredients in Curly Wurly: Coconut oil, Jojoba, Cacao butter, Shea butter, Olive oil, Papaya and lastly some zingy Lemon
As I always use a conditioner after shampooing I naturally had to try Retread which contains lots of good ingredients such as yogurt to make the hair soft, fresh melon which cleans the hair, seaweed for smoothness and neroli and violets for the delightful scent. Use Retread when your hair is brittle, rough and damaged. I found this conditioner super hydrating and my hair feels so smooth now!
For the perfect wellness evening a body peeling couldn’t be left out. This time I went with Rub Rub Rub which contains fresh lemon juice, soft touch me not and animating jasmine. Rub Rub Rub is just as effective as an ice cold shower in waking you up in the early hours of the morning. This peeling feels very luxurious and doesn’t leave the skin dried out but moisturised and awake.
The last wellness must-have is a body lotion of course. Lush has a fantastic campaign where they sell the flowery body lotion New Charity Pot and all the proceeds (except for the MwSt.) go to a charity. So when you’re using the Charity Pot you aren’t just doing something good for yourself but also for lots of people, animals and the environment. I love this idea and think it’s a great way to motivate people to donate money to charity and be more aware of how each and everyone of us can make a change by doing little things that have a big impact.
The last product I got to test was Lush’s Fantasie Eyeliner. Lush has a huge colour range which includes lip colours, eyeliners, mascaras and eye shadows. As you can see in the image above the colours are stunningly vibrant. They are very highly pigmented which I am a huge fan of. In the swatch below you can see the shade Fantasie.
Here are some impressions of the Lush store I visited.

Above: They also have perfect present boxes if you need a last minute present for someone.
Finally I want to say a few words in regards to my experience in the Lush store. The minute I walked in I felt welcome and immediately an employee helped me with my questions. The employees all took time to explain everything to me and answered all my questions professionally. The store feels and looks very much like a cute little candy land especially with all the dazzling colours and the yummy scents. I also got to try any product I wanted to and their tips where very helpful. I can most definitely recommend that you stop by the next Lush store when you get the chance to!
What’s your favourite Lush product?
